The accused, Douglas M. Gomes, who also resides in Versova, has been charged by the police with animal cruelty and unnatural sex.
In a conversation with The Times of India, Raval recounted that a beach lifeguard in Versova showed her a video in which the man could be seen sexually abusing a dog that she feeds and takes care of. Raval asked local guards to alert her if the man was spotted in the vicinity again.
“On August 1st, I was informed that the suspect was seen again at Versova Beach. When I arrived at the scene, the accused man was sexually abusing the dog. I recorded the video on my phone and dialed ‘103’ to request help from the police,” she told The Times of India.
A team from the Versova police station immediately arrived at the location and took the suspect into custody. Gomes is currently under judicial custody.
